PSNI recruit undercover teens
The PSNI is asking young volunteers to help test whether off-licences are selling alcohol to under-18's.
The PSNI want 15 to 17 year olds to go into their local off licence, try to buy alcohol and report back as to whether they get served or not.
It's claimed the young people involved could get a GCSE-type qualification.
Chief Superintendent Peter Farrar said: "The illegal sale of alcohol to minors can have devastating effects on individuals and the wider community.
"Police are committed to protecting communities and young people. Selling alcohol to under 18 year old persons is a serious offence that could result in a maximum fine of £5,000 and/or six months imprisonment upon conviction."
Retailers will be given a warning in advance of when tests are carried out in their area.
What do you think of this?
Would you go undercover to test your local off-licence?
